Shortly after purchasing the TomTom 540TM I used it for a Philadelphia to Chicago round trip. Directions were clear and, depending upon the angle of the sun, the 5 inch screen was easy to see. The traffic assist was especially helpful. When we hit a typical Chicago backup, TomTom offered an alternative route. We used the alternative and it worked well.Only downside is that the instruction manual provided with the device does not provide much detail,
